'Average Sunday' in Australia, as Singing Magpie Sits on Woman's Head

A magpie near the head is often cause for concern in Australia, as the territorial creatures are known to swoop aggressively. Shelley McNicholl, however, has an altogether more chilled relationship with one these birds.

She told Storyful she “made friends” with the bird in this video a year ago, and can be seen here with the bird singing atop her head.

“She comes to visit a couple of times a day and if she is out and about will come if I call her,” McNicholl, of Sandy Point, Victoria, said.

“She is incredibly inquisitive and wants to be a part of whatever we are doing outside, reading books, chopping wood, gardening,” McNicholl said. Credit: Shelley McNicholl via Storyful
