Belgian Graffiti Artists Spray-Paint Train in Honor of George Floyd

Graffiti artists in Belgium spray-painted the phrase “Please, I Can’t Breathe” across a train in Ghent as a tribute to George Floyd who died after a police officer knelt on his neck during an arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The phrase has become a rallying cry for protesters after video circulated on social media showing Floyd pleading with the officer as he was held down on May 25.

This footage, posted to Facebook on May 29 , shows a graffiti-covered train passing over a bridge in Ghent, Belgium. “In memory of George Floyd,” is also seen sprayed across the train.

According to local news reports, authorities were working to have the graffiti removed and track down the artists behind the tribute.

Outrage over Floyd’s death sparked protests and riots for several days across the US. An officer involved was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Credit: Ghentizm via Storyful
