Boris Johnson attacked over 40% pay rise for Dominic Cummings 'while nurse’s salaries cut'

Sir Keir Starmer has attacked Boris Johnson for giving his former aide Dominic Cummings a 40% pay rise while he cut the salaries of nurses.

During PMQs on Wednesday, the prime minister was forced to defend his government’s 1% recommended pay rise for NHS staff after being questioned by the Labour leader.

The proposed wage increase has been widely criticised as too low, considering the role the NHS played in the coronavirus pandemic.

The Royal College of Nursing pledged to establish a £35m fund to support members wanting to strike over the pay move.
