China tightens Covid restrictions, Lebanon marks one year since horrific explosion, Huawei's Meng Wanzhou begins final phase of extradition hearing

In our world view today, China is dramatically restricting travel as it looks to control the worst COVID-19 outbreak in months. On Wednesday, the country announced it would halt all nonessential travel.

Meanwhile in Beijing, trains suspended long distance rail lines for nearly two dozen stations. While large apartment complexes were sealed off for testing. All local governments have called on residents to avoid leaving their regions. The latest outbreak has infected more than 400 people in 25 cities so far, including Beijing in Wuhan, where the first COVID case was detected in 2019.

Residents in Beirut mark the one year anniversary of the catastrophic explosion that killed more than 200 people and injured thousands. Demonstrators gathered along the port where the blasts occurred demanding justice for those who died.

The court hearings are expected to last up to three weeks. And the case is reportedly also been raised and high level discussions between senior US and Chinese diplomats in recent weeks.
