Cincinnati Zoo's Prematurely-Born Hippo Tests Out Her Speed

The prematurely born hippopotamus at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens checked out her new, bigger space to play on Friday March 24. Fiona is in the new area to exercise and build more muscles.

In a video posted on Saturday, Fiona even tries out her speed by running across her new area.

Fiona was born six weeks early in January at 29 pounds, well below the normal birth weight for a hippo. She has been under the care of the zoo staff away from her parents since then. She topped 100 pounds last week.
