Cooler Floats Away After Heavy Rain Brings Flash Flooding to Southern Alabama

A cooler was spotted floating away as heavy rainfall brought “significant flash flooding” to areas of Mobile, Alabama on June 19, the National Weather Service reported.

Bennett Allen recorded this video while storm chasing with a friend. He told Storyful they came across streets with about a foot of water over them.

“At some points there were homes and vehicles stranded inside the floodwaters,” he said.

According to the NWS, rainfall had brought close to 10 inches of water to the area. The NWS warned the rain would lead to rising water which was already entering buildings. They urged anyone in the affected areas to move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through the floodwaters. Credit: Bennett Allen via Storyful
