Counter-Protesters Blocking Brooklyn Bridge Arrested During Pro-Police Prayer March

Protesters blocking the Brooklyn Bridge clashed with police on Wednesday, July 15, resulting in several arrests and injuries, according to local news.

The protesters briefly blocked a pro-police “prayer march” from advancing across the bridge before they were dispersed and “15 to 20” people were put in police vans, according to local news.

The prayer march, sponsored by the United Clergy Coalition and dubbed “The Power of Prayer,” was supported and attended by the Sergeants Benevolent Association, according to their Twitter.

The NYPD said three of their officers were “violently attacked” by protesters and “sustained serious injuries” during the confrontation.

According to CBS2, the prayer march was attended by Christian, Muslim, and Jewish faith leaders, police unions, Veterans for Black Lives Matter, and other citizens. They met up at Brooklyn’s Cadman Plaza “to call for a stop to the violence in the city and to have deeper conversations about racial justice and police reforms,” the report said.
