Cranky Crab Says 'Not Today' as It Hides Under Sand at Port Phillip Bay

A cranky crab pulled an impressive vanishing act as it hid beneath a mound of sand at Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.

Footage by marine biologist Sheree Marris shows the swimmer crab scuttling along the sea floor, before expertly digging into the sand and disappearing out of sight.

According to Marris, swimmer crabs will dig a “sandy bunker” when they don’t want to be seen.

“This crab wasn’t too happy to see me or hang around during a recent night dive which is evident by its outstretched claws and attempts to hide,” she told Storyful. Credit: Sheree Marris via Storyful
