Creek Overflows as Detroit Suburb Hit by Flooding

Heavy flooding was reported in Farmington Hills, Michigan – a suburb of Detroit – as “persistent” rain fell on September 23, the National Weather Service said.

This footage, posted on Twitter by Dion Degennaro, shows an overflowing creek at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills.

“Some serious flooding at our local spot. This is normally a creek with walkways and little islands you can hop on,” Degennaro said.

The weather service issued a Flood Watch on Wednesday in effect until Thursday, with estimated rainfall totals of up to four inches. Credit: Dion Degennaro via Storyful
