Cumbre Vieja Volcano Erupts for Third Day on Spain's La Palma Island

Some 6,000 people were evacuated by September 21 as lava advanced toward the coastline of La Palma, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, amid the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, Telecinco reported.

The eruption was first reported at around 3:30 pm local time September 19.

Multiple government agencies responded, including the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan), the local council, civil protection units, firefighters, and police.
