Damage Reported After Confirmed Tornado Touches Down in Somers, Connecticut

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Somers, Connecticut, on Sunday, July 18, downing trees and power lines and damaging homes and other property, footage shows.

WFSB journalist Christian Colon surveyed the storm damage around Somers on Monday morning.

“Even someone’s mailbox got crushed,” Colon said on Twitter.

The tornado path was approximately 1.9 miles long and occurred from 6:11 to 6:18 pm with peak winds reaching 80 mph, the NWS said. Credit: WFSB via Storyful
