Elizabeth City Protesters Demand Police Release Bodycam Footage of Andrew Brown Jr Shooting

Protesters in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, gathered for a second consecutive day on Thursday, April 22, to demand the release of police body camera footage after a local sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a black man the day prior.

Andrew Brown Jr, 42, was fatally shot by a deputy on Wednesday morning while authorities were serving a search warrant, according to the Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten.

Wooten said on Thursday that the body camera footage was with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and could only be released by a judge.
