Emergency Evacuation in Ironbridge as River Severn Breaches Flood Barriers

West Mercia Police have ordered an emergency evacuation of the residences on Wharfage in the town of Ironbridge, Shropshire.

Chief Supt Tom Harding said on Twitter on February 26 that the water was coming under the flood barriers and in places they appeared to be buckling.

Telford & Wrekin Council also released a similar video message on Twitter.

The council shared footage of the flooded river flowing rapidly through the Ironbridge Gorge. Credit: Telford & Wrekin Council via Storyful
