'Excluded Worker' Protesters Shut Down Traffic on Brooklyn Bridge

Protesters shut down traffic lanes on the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges in New York City on March 5, calling for financial relief for workers struggling through the pandemic, reports said.

Local media said demonstrations were held in support of a “coalition of workers demanding pandemic relief.” The New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA) joined the protest, adding that New York City’s cab drivers “stand in solidarity” with workers impacted by the pandemic.

The NYTWA said the demonstration was for undocumented workers, who have been excluded from unemployment benefits and stimulus payments during the pandemic.
