Firefighters Battle to Contain Blazes in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains

Firefighters were working “around the clock” to contain bushfires burning in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains region on Tuesday, January 14.

Fire authorities issued a ‘watch and act’ warning to residents of Shannons Flat due to the Adaminaby Complex fire on January 14, although the alert was downgraded later in that evening.

Widespread rain was predicted to fall across the state later in the week, potentially easing conditions on the fire grounds.

Around 100 fires were burning in New South Wales on January 15, with over 30 not yet brought under control.
