There is a moment after every switch is called but before it’s executed that the pick-setter is configured between two defenders but guarded by neither. That’s when they can literally slip underneath the defense (the element of surprise is important) and cut to a juicy opening.

The industrial control systems (ICS) security market was valued at USD 106. 68 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach USD 168. 53 billion by 2026 at a CAGR of over 8. 01% during the forecast period 2021 - 2026.New York, March 04, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Reportlinker.com announces the release of the report "Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Security Market - Growth, Trends, COVID-19 Impact, and Forecasts (2021 - 2026)" - https://www.reportlinker.com/p06030488/?utm_source=GNW The transition to Industry 4.0 is expected to bring many advances in efficiency and productivity, as well as many changes in the way the industrial processes work. Factors, such as improved efficiency and reduction in production costs, compared to the conventional manufacturing process, have been boosting the adoption of automation, which has been driving the demand for industrial control systems. However, the adoption of ICS solutions brings along the need for security, as there is an exponential rise in cyber-attacks and network security threats.- ICS security systems have been deployed to monitor complex industrial processes and critical infrastructures to deliver power, water, transport, manufacturing, and other essential services. As most of these systems are connected to the internet, they are open to vulnerabilities like any other connected system. Any significant downtime or infiltration of an ICS network may lead to massive outages, thousands of impacted users, and even national disaster. Moreover, updates to these systems are slow, as there is low OTA update capabilities that are currently present making these systems more vulnerable to outsider threats.- The majority ofthese systems require little or no authentication or encryption for internal access. Hence, insiders generally have unlimited access to any device that operates on the network, including SCADA applications and other critical components. This makes these systems highly vulnerable to insider threats. Systems that have now been upgraded and connected to a digital interface can get compromised by malware or a USB device. Furthermore, human errors, like incorrect configurations, PLC programming errors, or inability to monitor critical metrics or alerts, can also compromise the security of the networks.- According to Global ICS & IIoT Risk Report (2019) from Kaspersky, that analyzed real-world network traffic data from more than 850 production ICS networks globally, majority of the network sites are still exposed to the public internet and lack the basic protection (such as updated anti-virus), thus, enabling the attackers to quietly perform reconnaissance before sabotaging physical processes, such as assembly lines, mixing tanks, and blast furnaces.Key Market TrendsAutomotive is Expected to Hold a Significant Share- Field devices, such as robotics and sensors, among others, and ICS offer opportunities to the auto sector to react faster to market requirements, reduce manufacturing downtimes, and enhance efficiency, and expand productivity.- The automotive industry is among the prominent sectors that hold a significant share of the automated manufacturing facilities across the world. The production facilities of various automakers are automated to maintain efficiency. The rising trend of replacing conventional vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs) is expected to further augment the demand from the automotive industry. For instance, the projected electric vehicle sales in Europe are expected to reach 6.33 million units by 2025, followed by China with 4.84 million units, according to UBS.- Moreover, automotive companies are the prominent purchasers of robots globally. According to the statistics by the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), 422,000 units had been shipped globally in 2018, which had witnessed a growth of over 6% from the previous year. Also, the IFR have stated that, these number shipments may grow at 12% from 2020 to 2022.North America is Expected to Hold the Largest Share- The manufacturing sector is a crucial aspect of North America’s GDP, indicating economic health. In 2018, it contributed USD 2.33 trillion in 2018 and drove 11.6% of US economic output, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The rising cost of labor, along with the pressure on manufacturers to meet deadlines, has resulted in the increased adoption of automation in factories, which in turn, is expected to create a scope for ICS security maket.- In Canada, cybercrime has been rapidly gaining high traction, as the impact has been increasing at an alarming rate. In response to this, in August 2019, Ottawa’s cybersecurity action plan was launched, which included USD 10 million for special projects. The action plan for improving the resilience of the federal and critical infrastructure may include USD 10.3 million, over five years, for special projects created by provincial, territorial, and municipal governments, researchers, commercial companies, and not for profits.- Additionally, the House Appropriations Committee Homeland Security Subcommittee, in 2019, increased funding to Industrial Control Systems by USD 11.4 million to enhance cybersecurity training, malware analysis, safety systems vulnerability analysis, and assessments of ICS in the emerging sectors and subsectors.Competitive LandscapeThe industrial control system security market is highly competitive and consists of several major players. Many companies have been increasing their market presence by introducing new products, by entering into partnerships or by acquiring companies.- February 2020 - Darktrace partnered with McLaren for defending against Cyberattacks. With this partnership, Darktrace may be the official AI cybersecurity partner for McLaren, beginning from the 2020 Formula One season. The cybersecurity firm may help through its technical integration of its cyber artificial intelligence across the McLaren Group, as well as McLaren Racing division, where Darktrace may protect the McLaren racing team against cyberattacks.- December 2019 - FireEye Inc. introduced FireEye Cyber-Physical Threat Intelligence. The new subscription provides context, data, and actionable analysis on threats to cyber-physical systems, including operational technology (OT), industrial control systems (ICS), Internet of Things (IoT), and other equipment used to manage interconnected physical processes.Reasons to Purchase this report:- The market estimate (ME) sheet in Excel format- 3 months of analyst supportRead the full report: https://www.reportlinker.com/p06030488/?utm_source=GNWAbout ReportlinkerReportLinker is an award-winning market research solution. President Vladimir Putin called on Thursday for the internet in Russia to be bound by moral rules to stop society fraying and railed against what he said was its role in drawing children into opposition street protests, prostitution and drugs. The comments come amid mounting efforts by Moscow to exert greater influence over U.S. social media giants and frustrations over what authorities say is their failure to follow Russian laws. As tens of thousands rallied to protest the jailing of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny earlier this year, Moscow accused U.S. social networks of failing to take down fake posts about anti-Kremlin demonstrations earlier this year.

A live-streamed video of a Myanmar journalist being attacked and shot at in his home by military authorities on the night of March 1 has gone viral, as Myanmar’s military junta violently cracked down on anti-coup demonstrators in the past few days with tear gas, live ammunition, and mass arrests. Journalists in particular have found themselves increasingly targeted by security forces – at least 9 are currently detained, and at least 30 have been arrested since the anti-coup protests began a month ago. “If you are shooting like this, how will I come down?”Past the 8pm curfew on March 1, reporter Kaung Myat Naing(a) Aung Kyaw of the Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB), an independent Myanmar news organization, began a livestream on the media’s Facebook page as police surrounded his home in southern Myeik and fired at him through his balcony. “Help me please, I also got hurt in the head,” he cries, as shots are heard in the background (the type of bullet used is unknown). “If you are shooting like this, how will I come down?” Several hours later, DVB published a press release on Twitter saying that Myanmar police have arrested Kaung Myat Naing(a) Aung Kyaw and detained him in an undisclosed location. He had been reporting daily on the anti-military coup protests since the beginning of February, and documented the fatal military crackdowns on demonstrators in Myeik.Kaung Myat Naing(a) Aung Kyaw isn’t the only journalist who has been attacked and arrested by security forces. On February 26, a Twitter video shows Japanese freelance journalist Yuki Kitazumi being arrested as police dispersed a protest in Yangon — the first foreign reporter detained since the start of the military coup. He has since been released from police custody, reported the Japan Times. On February 27, another Twitter video shows Associated Press journalist Thein Zaw being arrested in Yangon. Authorities charged him and five other journalists with violating a sedition law against “causing fear among the public, knowingly spreading false news, or agitating directly or indirectly a government employee”, reported the Associated Press. Under this charge, the journalists could be imprisoned for up to three years.Among the reporters charged and detained was Myanmar Now journalist Kay Zon Nway, who captured the moments leading up to her arrest on Facebook Live. On February 27, in the last two minutes of a livestream video for the news agency, police officers chase down the journalist right before the video cuts out. On March 2, Myanmar Now’s Twitter account reported that Kay Zon Nway was being held at Insein Prison in Yangon and has been denied access to her lawyer.Salai David, a reporter for the Chinland Post, and Min Nyo, a DVB reporter, are also currently detained by police.“Many journalists are suffering from trauma.”FRANCE 24 Observers spoke with “Sam” (their name has been changed for security reasons), a journalist at an independent publication in Myanmar:Right now, working on the ground is dangerous, as the military is targeting journalists, beating and arresting them. Normally, when we’re working, we’ll put a press logo on a helmet or jacket so they can see that we’re professionals, but it’s not always wise. For example, if a police officer sees a journalist live-streaming, he’ll often stop or arrest them.Journalists also have to guard against police informants in disguise, when taking cars to go home for example. Some taxi drivers are actually informants, and if they see that you’re a journalist, they could take you to jail instead of taking you home. There are also police informants disguised as protesters in the crowds. So I always tell my team to be vigilant and protect themselves. Many journalists also have to “move and hide” – after they cover the protests, they don’t go back to their home and hide somewhere else. On February 26th, reporter Sit Htet Aung posted a photo on Facebook of a policeman running towards him with his baton mid-snap. “Police officer tried to hit me,” reads his caption. Many journalists are suffering from trauma due to the violence during the protests. But although the coup has endangered the press, I think that it shows you that the real journalists are those who continue to cover the uprising. It’s an important moment in our country’s politics and people need more than ever true information.Decreasing press freedoms and increasing civilian violenceOf course, It’s not only journalists that are targeted by the military, it’s ordinary people from all walks of life that are being beaten and killed. We can’t even call them the military anymore — they’re terrorists. We can’t call on any state forces – not the police, not anyone else – to protect us.Since February 28, security forces have embarked upon their most violent crackdowns on peaceful demonstrators since the coup began. The military has been mobilising in cities including Yangon (the largest city in the country), Dawei and Mandalay, using tear gas, live rounds, and even slingshots against protesters and detaining hundreds. As of March 4, at least 50 people have been killed since the coup began, said the United Nations – with 38 fatalities on March 3 alone.

Cryptocurrency prices are soaring, and NVIDIA's (NASDAQ: NVDA) gaming segment is booming. The last time this scenario occurred was in 2018, when surging digital currencies boosted the demand for high-end graphics cards by crypto miners. When the bubble popped, NVIDIA's gaming segment suffered an oversupply of chips, causing sales of graphics cards, and the chip maker's stock price, to fall sharply.
