Greta Thunberg says world leaders must act now

Addressing a virtual meeting of the World Economic Forum, a gathering usually held in the Swiss ski resort Davos, Thunberg said leaders had so far only “set up vague, hypothetical, distant targets.”

The Swedish 18-year-old ended her message warning that “your children and grandchildren will hold you accountable for the choices that you make.”

Thunberg, who sparked a global climate protest movement after striking outside the Swedish parliament in 2018, was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2019.

In 2020, Thunberg and the Fridays for Future movement was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and awarded The United Nations’ World Food Programme.
