Gust From Fort Lauderdale Airshow Plane Pops Up Beach Parasol

A jet from the Fort Lauderdale Air Show made quite an impact when the gust from its flyby popped up a local beachgoer’s parasol on Saturday, November 21.

Footage recorded by Mike Sand on Fort Lauderdale Beach shows the jet as it roars past spectators and causes a parasol to fly up.

Speaking to Storyful, Sand said he was “shocked” when he learned the Fort Lauderdale Air show would be taking place this year due to all COVID-19 cases that have been happening. He arranged to watch the air show with friends in a safe setting and rode his bike to the beach.

Sand added, “It was awesome to be outside, great breeze, fresh air…and people wore face masks. Hearing the roar of the jets was awesome! It was great to hear something so loud and be so proud of the USA.”

The 2020 Fort Lauderdale Air Show takes place between November 21-22 and includes pilots abroad aircraft such as the F-22 Raptor, F-16 Viper, and A-10 Thunderbolt II. This year’s show also featured the first female pilot to fly a brand new F-35 at an Air Show, according to local reports. Credit: Mike Sand via Storyful
