'Can I Help You?': Curious Bear Cub Paws at Sliding Door to Peek Inside Sierra Madre Home

A curious bear surprised Sierra Madre woman Tiffany Dukes by pawing at sliding doors at the back of her rental property on October 16.

Dukes filmed videos that show two bears roaming around the backyard.

“Can I help you?” Dukes can be heard saying as she films the moment the bear stands on its hind legs to put its paws on the door to peek inside.

Dukes told Storyful that she locked her sliding doors when she saw one of the bears in the backyard. When she went to double-check the doors were secure, one of the bears “jumped up and surprised” her.

Dukes told Storyful that she frequently saw bears slowly walking near the house since the COVID-19 shutdown. She told Storyful that she’s living near Angeles National Forest, which is known for bear activities. Dukes observed that the recent Bobcat Fire had forced an influx of wildlife into her town.
