Home Depot, Lowe’s average ticket holds up as traffic slows

Yahoo Finance Live's Brian Sozzi breaks down the chart of the day.

Video transcript

BRIAN SOZZI: All right, we have a double Chart of the Day for you today with a housing market focus. Let's fire up this chart. Home Depot, looking at the average ticket at an HD versus store traffic. You can see the average ticket has been holding strong, as HD pushes through price increases from vendors onto its shoppers.

But with the housing market cooling down, mighty HD has seen slowing traffic to its stores. The same vibe could be seen at rival Lowe's. Strong average ticket growth but weakening store traffic in the most recent couple of quarters.
