Homes Damaged as Wildfire Tears Through Forest Near Athens

At least a dozen homes and cars were damaged by a forest wildfire near Athens on Tuesday, July 27, local media reported.

News reports said eight water-dropping planes and 12 helicopters were being used to fight the blaze, joined by more than 300 firefighters on the ground.

Officials told local media that the fire was in decline by the afternoon of July 27 and said four people had been detained for questioning.
