Huge Clouds of Smoke and Ash Fill Air During Mount Etna's Latest Eruption

Mount Etna spewed huge plumes of ash and smoke into the Sicilian sky during its most recent eruption on October 23.

According to Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology this latest activity came after “more than a month of relative calm.”

Footage by local photographer Giuseppe Distefano captured the dark clouds filling the air during the eruption. Credit: Etna Walk via Storyful
