The actor Hugh Grant has been spotted campaigning in a number of Tory marginals this election campaign, and on Monday, December 9, he took to the streets of Sidmouth in a bid to help independent Claire Wright unseat Hugo Swire.
Swire took the seat with 8,036 votes to spare in 2017, but, speaking to a crowd on Sidmouth’s Esplanade, Grant said Wright had a “fantastic chance” to beat a “wobbling Tory.”
Grant has pushed for tactical voting to unseat Conservatives during the campaign. He previously campaigned with Lib Dem candidates Luciana Berger and Chuka Umunna, Labour’s Faiza Shaheen, and the ex-Conservative Dominic Grieve. Credit: sidmouth.nub.news via Storyful
