Hundreds of Emergency Personnel Deployed as La Palma Lava Flow Approaches Town

A flow of lava from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma wreaked havoc as it destroyed properties on September 21, and was continuing to endanger many more on its way to the sea.

Around 6,000 people were evacuated as the lava neared the town of Todoque. The pyroclastic flow had destroyed more than 200 buildings on La Palma by September 21, Telecinco reported.

This video shows emergency services gathered near the town with diggers and trucks, while the lava flow can be seen approaching in the background. Credit: Guardia Civil via Storyful
