Hurricane Epsilon Creates 'Hazardous' Surf Along Puerto Rico Coast

Hurricane Epsilon created hazardous surf along Puerto Rico’s coast on Wednesday, October 21, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

The storm “rapidly” intensified into a “major” hurricane on Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). As of Thursday morning, the Category 1 hurricane was packing 90 mph winds and was expected to impact Bermuda.

The NWS of San Juan said swells generated by the storm prompted coastal flood and high surf advisories, as well as high rip current risk in Puerto Rico.

Twitter user @VegaBajaWx said this footage, posted on Wednesday, shows waves crashing in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.

The NHC said Hurricane Epsilon was forecast to move closest to eastern Bermuda on Thursday night. Credit: @VegaBajaWx via Storyful
