Intense Storm Passes Through Canberra, Australia

A storm swept through Canberra, Australia, on Tuesday, December 1, after days of scorching heat in the region.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued just after 5 pm local time on Tuesday afternoon, with the forecast predicting damaging winds in Canberra Civic, Queanbeyan, Hall, Gungahlin, Canberra Airport and South Canberra by 5:30 pm. It was cancelled shortly before 6 pm.

Footage posted to social media shows the storm rolling through Coombs, a suburb of Australia’s capital.
