Israel demolishes a West Bank Bedouin village

Fasayil village is considered part of the Jericho governate with a population of approximately 2,500 people, whose residents mostly work in agriculture and as shepherds.

Shacks and animal shelters were among the structures destroyed in the village on Wednesday (November 25), including 15 sheep barns and 3 tin houses of 45 Bedouin Palestinians.

Children were seen gathering grains from the destroyed site.

"It was a ferocious attack with bulldozers and other machines. All I could say is may God be with us. This is the occupation, I have nothing to say more than that, this is the occupation. It was all of a sudden without any warning or anything," said one of the village residents, Ismael Abeidat.

When contacted by Reuters, The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said in a statement that an enforcement activity was carried out by the Supervision Unit of the Civil Administration against 2 structures, 4 tents, 6 movables which were illegally constructed, in Petza'el located near Jericho in area C.

Israel often cites a lack of building permits in demolishing Palestinian structures in the West Bank.
