Italian Police Smash Human Trafficking Ring

Italian police said they arrested 18 members of a criminal gang that smuggled migrants packed into vans over the Italian border into France.

Further arrest warrants were reportedly issued for suspected traffickers living outside of Italy.

The police operation on Monday, January 30, was the culmination of a two-year investigation documenting dozens of smuggling incidents in collaboration with French authorities, according to a police statement.
