Man Found Guilty for Pushing Two Men Toward London Underground Tracks (Update)

Londoner Paul Crossley has been sentenced to life_, with a minimum of 12 years, following a guilty verdict served on October 5, 2018, for pushing two men toward the tracks on the London Underground.

British Transport Police said on June 24 that Crossley will be hospitalized until he is deemed fit for prison.

Crossley first attempted to push 23-year-old Tobias French onto the tracks at Tottenham Court Road Station on April 27, 2018. French caught himself before falling, and this incident is visible in the latter half of the video here.

Later that day, Crossley, 47, pushed another man, 91-year-old Robert Malpas, onto the tracks at Marble Arch Station. Malpas, a former Eurotunnel boss who was knighted in 1998, suffered fractures to his pelvis and a head wound after he fell onto the track. He was saved by bystander Riyad El Hussani, who jumped onto the tracks to assist him. El Hussani suffered burns to his hand from touching the electrified track.

Crossley was arrested shortly afterwards and told officers: “I didn’t get much sleep last night.” According to the BBC’s report, he had taken crack cocaine prior to the incident and apparently chose his victims randomly. Credit: British Transport Police via Storyful
