Man Previously Jailed for Climbing The Shard Scales 36-Story London Apartment Building

A 21-year-old free-climber who was jailed in 2019 for climbing the UK’s tallest building scaled a 36-story apartment building in east London on August 3 to raise awareness about climate change, reports said.

This footage, by Deep Sethi, shows climber George King-Thompson reaching the top of Stratosphere Tower in Stratford.

The Evening Standard reported that King, who was sentenced to six months in 2019 for free-climbing The Shard, chose the location on Tuesday because the building overlooked a railway station that flooded following heavy rains on July 25.

The ascent took less than 30 minutes, the Evening Standard reported. Credit: Deep Sethi via Storyful
