Massachusetts School Raises Juneteenth Flag After Federal Holiday Designation

A Massachusetts high school held its first Juneteenth flag-raising ceremony on Friday, June 18, a day after Juneteenth was designated a federal holiday in the United States.

Juneteenth, observed on June 19, celebrates the abolition of slavery and emancipation of enslaved African Americans. US President Joe Biden signed a bill on Thursday to officially make Juneteenth a federal holiday.
