Mom Overjoyed as Blind 4-Year-Old Walks With Cane for First Time

A four-year-old blind boy walked with a cane for the first time, much to the joy of his mother, outside their home in Staten Island, New York, as seen in this video, uploaded on October 5.

“He is so afraid to walk by himself when he doesn’t know his environment,” his mom Lisset Moran told Storyful.

Walking with a cane is a big deal for little Josue, who was diagnosed with Septo-Optic Dysplasia at an early age, and didn’t start walking until he was two, Moran said.

Describing this moment as a “huge milestone,” Moran said on Twitter that it was her son’s “next step into becoming more independent.” Credit: Lisset Moran via Storyful
