More Than 2 Feet of Snow Buries California's Sierra Nevada Mountains

A powerful storm system over northern California brought heavy rain and snowfall to parts of the region on Monday, October 25, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Video filmed by the University of California Berkeley’s Central Sierra Snow Lab (CSSL) shows snow falling at their remote site on Monday at Donner Pass. The lab said 26.6 inches of snow had fallen since 10 pm local time the previous night, according to their measurements.

Heavy rainfall caused flooding in other parts of the state, according to the NWS. Credit: UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab via Storyful
