Multiple Vehicle Crash Kills Nine Children and One Adult in Butler County, Alabama

A multi-vehicle crash killed ten people in Butler County, Alabama, on June 19, including nine children.

Footage shared by Twitter user @AlanaTuckerF on June 19, who said she took it on Interstate 65, shows smoke rising in the distance.

Butler County Coroner Wayne Garlock said hydroplaning might have been a factor in the accident, which occurred as Tropical Depression Claudette was moving through the region, according to local news reports.

Eight of the young victims were in a Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch van and ranged in age from 4 to 17, according to Garlock. The other two victims were a man and his 9-month-old daughter.

The National Transportation Safety Board said they were sending ten investigators to conduct a safety investigation of the fatal crash. Credit: @AlanaTuckerF via Storyful
