Police Fire Tear Gas at Banned Pro-Palestine Protest in Paris

French police deployed tear gas and water cannons on pro-Palestine protesters defying a ban on the demonstrations in Paris on Saturday, May 15.

According to the Paris Police Prefecture, 44 protesters were arrested by 7 pm on Saturday. One police officer was injured, they reported.

Businesses in the city’s Barbes area were ordered to close at noon on Saturday as a precaution ahead of the protests, the Paris Police Prefecture said.

The ministry of health in Gaza said 139 people had been killed and some 1,000 wounded inside the Palestinian enclave as of Saturday.

On Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces said 2,300 rockets had been fired at the country since May 10. At least ten deaths inside Israel have been reported during that period.
