Police Save Orlando Man From Burning Car After Overhearing His Accident

Two Orange County Sheriff’s deputies helped pull an Orlando-area man from a burning car on January 10 after they heard the driver crash through a guardrail and flip his car on its side, a press release from the sheriff’s office said.

According to a video released by police, deputies Robert Ricks and Marco Ruiz had nearly finished a 12-hour shift when they heard the crash at 4.30 am.

The deputies drove slowly around the area until they found the driver, Christopher Tossas, who was unconscious in his vehicle. By the time they were able to revive him, smoke was rising from the car. The deputies tried to pull the man out, but he was stuck.

After Orange County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene, the deputies and firefighters pulled the man out and dragged him away from the car.

Tossas was on his way to work when he got into the accident, he told authorities. He was brought to a hospital and treated for a concussion and minor scrapes. Credit: Orange County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
