Rescuers Search for Survivors After Explosion Levels Home in Azerbaijan

Rescue teams with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations searched for survivors of an explosion that leveled a two-story home in Xirdalan, Azerbaijan, on Monday, January 25.

According to ministry officials, search operations were still underway and six people had been rescued. Video released by the ministry shows at least one person being pulled from the rubble.

Local news reports said the six people, including a child, were taken to a hospital.

Area gas provider Azerigas told news outlets they do not have a pipeline in the vicinity of the building, reports said, and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
