School in Eastern Kentucky Suffers Heavy Flood Damage

Residents in eastern Kentucky fled from rising floodwaters this week after the Kentucky river burst its banks, damaging structures including a school in Lost Creek, located in Breathitt County.

This footage, recorded on March 2 by Justina Mullins Salyers, shows how floodwaters filled the halls of Riverside Christian School, overturning furniture and leaving the hallways waterlogged. When she visited on Tuesday, the school’s gym was still filled with water.

“This is really just heart-wrenching seeing this,” said Salyers.
