Smoke and Ash From Cumbre Vieja Volcano Fill Sky Over La Palma

The Cumbre Vieja volcano has remained active, ejecting lava and ash onto the Spanish island of La Palma on Tuesday, October 19, a month after initial eruptions began.

This footage filmed on Tuesday evening shows large clouds of gases and ash expanding into the sky, as a trail of lava flows down the side of the volcano.

According to the Copernicus Emergency Management Service, 1,956 buildings had been destroyed across 811.8 hectares (about 3 square miles) as of Sunday. Credit: Idafe.com via Storyful
