Smoke Billows From Wildfire in Southern Montana

Smoke billowed from Montana’s Robertson Draw wildfire on June 14. Officials said the fire was “very actively burning,” with several evacuation orders in place for the Red Lodge area.

The fire was approximately 2,000 acres in size as of Tuesday. It had grown to 21,000 acres as of Wednesday, June 16, according to officials.

Carbon County Attorney Alex Nixon said on Wednesday afternoon the Robertson Draw fire is being investigated as “human caused.” Nixon also said that a joint investigation between the United States Forest Service and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office had identified a potential suspect, local media reported.
