Smoke From Pacific Palisades Fire Seen From Santa Monica Beach

Firefighters were working through the night in “steep, cliff-like terrain” to help control the Palisades Fire that sparked in western Los Angeles on Monday, October 21, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said.

The LAFD said the brush fire was reported Monday morning in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. The fire was burning about 40 acres with 10 percent containment as of 9 pm on Monday, according to the LAFD.

As the fire grew, it prompted evacuations of about 200 nearby homes, the LAFD reported. The evacuation order was lifted by 8 pm on Monday, and the department said no homes were damaged. The LAFD said in its update that one civilian and one first responder were injured, but did not specify to what extent.
