Smoky Red Sky Lingers Over Northern California as Wildfires Rage

Two of the Northern California wildfires, the Dixie Fire and the Fly Fire, merged on July 25, as the blaze continued to grow, according to a local media report.

Authorities reported on Sunday that the Dixie Fire had grown to over 190,000 acres and was 21 percent contained, while the Fly Fire had burnt 4,300 acres with 5 percent containment.

Craig Philpott, a local photographer, filmed videos on July 23 in multiple locations to document the fire-impacted areas. Red smoke blanketed the sky near Feather River Canyon in Oroville, at Round Valley Reservoir near Greenville, and in the town of Greenville. Credit: Craig Philpott via Storyful
