Storm Clouds Swirl Over Eastern Colorado in Timelapse

Severe weather moved through Bethune, Colorado, on Tuesday, August 13, the National Weather Service (NWS) said, including a tornado that touched down in the area.

The NWS confirmed a tornado four miles north of Bethune around 3 pm on Tuesday after issuing a tornado warning for the region.

The weather service said the tornado could damage structures and down trees. The NWS also issued a tornado watch for parts of Kansas and Nebraska until Tuesday evening.

This timelapse, taken Tuesday afternoon, shows dark clouds moving overhead near Bethune. The NWS warned of severe thunderstorms in the area that could produce winds up to 70 mph and lime-sized hail.

“Twin tornadoes” were also spotted Tuesday afternoon about 10 miles north of Kirk, Colorado, which is about 30 miles from Bethune, local media said. Credit: A.J. Worden via Storyful
