Thousands of Firefighters Battle Northern California's Dixie Fire

Firefighters from California and Nevada were mobilized to fight the Dixie fire, which by Wednesday morning, July 28, was estimated to be 217,581 acres (about 340 square miles) and 23 percent contained, fire officials said.

Peardale Chicago Park (PCP) Fire shared video from the scene on Tuesday evening.

Members of the Nevada County Strike Team were demobilized from the Tamarack fire and reassigned to the Dixie fire, the department wrote on Twitter. The strike team is made up of firefighters from several different fire departments.

More than 5,300 total personnel were fighting the fire, officials said. Credit: Peardale Chicago Park Fire via Storyful
