Winds Batter Bowie, Maryland, as Tornado Touches Down

High winds toppled trees and sent debris flying as a storm that produced as least one tornado swept through Bowie, in Maryland’s Prince George’s County, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 5.

This footage from Bowie resident Chris Chernewych shows debris tumbling through his neighborhood amid pouring rain and gusty wind.

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed on Wednesday that an EF-1 tornado packing wind speeds of 86 mph to 110 mph touched down close to Bowie on Tuesday evening.
