Tree Kangaroo Joey Emerges From Mother's Pouch at Sydney Zoo

A tree kangaroo joey at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, New South Wales, has been recorded for the first time popping its head out of its mother’s pouch.

According to the zoo, the male joey, who is 28 weeks old, has only just begun emerging from his mother Kwikila’s pouch.

Tree kangaroos are native to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, according to the zoo. They are classified as endangered due to habitat loss and encroaching human activity. Credit: Taronga Zoo Sydney via Storyful
