U.S. climate czar makes economic case for going green

“You can’t build a coal-fired power plant in the United States with a bank funding it,” Kerry said.

“There’s a transition that the market is undertaking,” he added.

The United States will likely exceed its pledge to reduce emissions 50% to 52% by 2030 compared with 2005 levels, he said.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced the goal at the start of a two-day climate summit attended virtually by leaders of 40 countries including big emitters China, India and Russia.
