U.S. dollar hits multi-decade high as stocks fall

Yahoo Finance's Ines Ferré and Jared Blikre break down the moves in the U.S. dollar index and what it means for long stock positions.

Video transcript

JARED BLIKRE: And Ines, we've been checking and talking about some of the moves, the huge moves in the currency market. What do you got for us?

INES FERRE: Yeah, that's right. We are taking a look at the US Dollar Index. This is the dollar against a basket of currencies. And it is at a multi-decade high. It's above 106. And if we just take a look at the euro, the euro against the dollar is at a 20-year low. And it's interesting because I know you've spoken to JC Parets, a friend of the show. And his whole thesis is, it's all about the dollar because we have seen that when the US dollar goes up, we are looking at stocks that are going lower. So it's hard for investors.
