UK lawmaker brings baby to maternity leave debate

The Labour party's Stella Creasy demanded from the leader of the house a meeting of lawmakers from all parties to ensure the law on maternity leave was upheld.

The leader of the House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg replied by congratulating her on the behavior of the baby, who remained quiet during the proceedings.

Britain in 2019 saw its first and only temporary "locum" appointed to cover Creasy during her maternity leave, but rules mean the role was limited to constituency work and she could not speak or vote in parliament.
