UK's HMS Montrose Fires Gun Salute to Mark Death of Prince Philip

Gun salutes were held on the UK’s Royal Navy vessels and in areas across the United Kingdom, on Saturday, April 10, to mark the death of Prince Philip at the age of 99.

The Ministry of Defence released footage of the frigate HMS Montrose performing a 41 gun salute in Duqm, Oman.

The BBC said 41 gun salutes were fired by ceremonial 3lb guns at Portsmouth and Devonport Naval Bases and aboard destroyer HMS Diamond in UK waters.

Batteries fired 41 rounds at one round every minute from midday in cities including London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, as well as Royal Navy warships, the Evening Standard reported. Credit: Ministry of Defence via Storyful
